THE SOUL
Maisy Lai
Mixed Media
50x10 x10cm, 30x10x10cm
2018
Developed based on the 21 grams experiment published by Duncan MacDougall. He proposed that soul has a physical weight of 21 grams. Although the experiment was rather unscientific, the idea was popularized. This is a visual representation of how I understand the soul of a person through senses.
DEAR DADDY
Maisy Lai
Video Documentation of Exhibition
2018
My project alludes to the situation of childhood grief through a self-exploration journey. Recently, I realized that my father, who passed away when I was five, has faded from my memory over the years. Therefore, I wish to experience healing through reconstructing my identity as my father’s daughter, thus make up for the memories I forgot. I would begin with a search to verify a piece of fragmented memory. Then, I would find connections between my father and I by investigating what I have inherited from him. Finally, I would conclude the project with a painting as an emotional response.

ENSO
Maisy Lai
Mixed Media
200x200x200cm
2019
The immersive installation presents the strength and elegance of the Enso, encompassing the idea of life cycle – origin, fate and end. I employed different types of plastic bags to create abstract representations of baby, adult and elderly. Each sac has unique details, conveying the various forms of fate between people. The installation will evolve with the dripping of water, revealing the Enso with water traces on the mirrors. I hope to create a sensory experience for my audience to appreciate the cycle of life.
I EMBRACE THE PACIFIC STORM AS THE YELLOW RIVER STOOD BEHIND ME
Josephine Choy
Stop Motion Animation
2016
The basis of my cultural identity: longing and hiding. This animation tells the rejection of myself and longing for another identity through the use of metaphors and an eerie atmosphere. To feel uncomfortable in my own skin; to be lost in the mist of light.

GARMENT ONÂ SALE
Rose Wei
Mixed Media
Dimensions Variable
2015
Human is destroying the harmony with animals so to fulfil their desires. Seeing how human decides to hunt just for making garments to pump up their ego, I hope to create an interactive work that narrates the animality of human beings, hence arousing thoughts on reconstructing and rebuilding a better relationship between us and the animals.

Video Documentation of an Installation
2016
I hope to be self healed through the process of soul searching during my creation. My entire project is mainly about emotions in uncertainty which is based on my personal experience. I think I am enough for this torture and I want to transform this kind of pain into something beautiful. I want my inner sorrows to be heard thus set free.

Our perception towards how mass produced daily objects should look and function have made us easily believe that time induced changes are why they're flawed. I believe that signs of usage can make these products unique and special. The world view Wabi-Sabi celebrates aesthetics centered on the acceptance of imperfection. This project is my way to share an experience producing works genreated from preserving old and damaged common items, in order to show people what could happen if we change our perspective towards objects that are judged as being imperfect.
HONG KONG STORY - POSTCARD DESIGN
by F2 Students (2019-2020)
Students learn to record their surroundings visually. They then do secondary research to study more about the place around them. Combining information from primary and secondary research, they develop a postcard to promote the stories of Hong Kong.
